Dirty Sons of Pitches

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are combining two movies about kids growing up, the first the 2009 "Where the Wild Things Are" movie that was met with much consternation from studio execs who didn't get it (were they right?) and the 2016 "Hunt for the Wilderpeople," the comedy written and directed by Taika Watiti before helming "Thor: Ragnarok." The guys will pitch a new kids' movies taking themes and ideas from both.

Episode 315 includes:

-The new "Dune" trailer looks fancy and dusty.

-Does the big "Black Widow" drop mean anything? Maybe that COVID is still a thing and not everyone wants to go back to the theaters?

-"Gunpowder Milkshake" is empty calories of style.

-"Space Jam: A New Legacy" feels like a WB catalogue that incensed Ben for its shameless cynicism.

-Switch the Pitch -- "Where the Wild Things Are" / "Hunt for the Wilderpeople"

-The guys discuss the curious and disconnected 2009 downer by director Spike Jonze and the 2016 whimsical and heartfelt movie by Taika Watiti before combining them into a brand-new pitch for a new movie.
