Dirty Sons of Pitches

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are still on hiatus for the time being so give a listen to Ben and George's other podcast "Saturday Night Jive," where the brothers look at bad movies starring Saturday Night Live alums. This week they highlight the 1998 movie "Krippendorf's Tribe" starring Richard Dreyfuss, Jenna Elfman, and a young Mila Kunis. It's a movie that probably couldn't be made today and Ben and George marvel at what might be a forgotten comic masterpiece of very un-PC proportions.

While on hiatus, the "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are highlighting some of the best from the "Saturday Night Jive" podcast from Ben and George, discussing movies related to SNL aluni. This week comes the 1986 woeful action thriller misfire "Out of Bounds" which attempted to turn a mid 80s Anthony Michael Hall into the most unlikely tough-talking action hero. It's a memorable movie that is forgotten in annuls of so-bad-it's-good and it was never released on DVD. Enjoy as Ben and George shed light on this hilarious new classic.

While the "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are occupied for another week, enjoy a special presentation of Ben and George's SNL-related podcast, "Saturday Night Jive." This week the guys, with special guest Nate, discuss the 1994 erotic thriller "Disclosure" and just how wrongheaded it is at about every turn, and that's before the lengthy VR sequence. You'll never look at the patriarchy the same.

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" were able to get together during their writing hiatus and record a new podcast covering several movies they have watched recently, including the new surprise sequel to "the Blair Witch," which is quite not good. They pitch ways to fix it and if this franchise can be continued creatively.

Episode 153 includes:

-Ben contends he is not a Millenial and all that this implies.

-Nate says "Sully" is solid and "Bridget Jones' Baby" is a back-to-basics that reminds fans why they enjoyed the characters.

-"God's Not Dead 2" not as mean but just as crazy.

-The new "Blair Witch" could have been called "Bad Jump Scare: The Movie."

-This Week's Pitch -- Fix a "Blair Witch" Sequel

-Ben and Nate try and determine where the new movie should have gone and what can be salvageable.

Oh, do they have things to say about that movie. After, the guys attempt to pitch the ultimate Refn movie and it becomes a challenge to pitch a killer mime revenge movie, because anything would be better than a new Refn movie.

-Pump the brakes on "The Birth of a Nation" awards push because something awful has come to light.

-R.I.P. Gene Wilder, the man who made us fall in love with madness.

The guys watch what might be one of the weirdest animated films ever, the 2006 movie "Aachi & Ssipak," a South Korean product that takes place in a dystopian future where people are rewarded for their defecation with an addictive substance. Diaper-wearing gangs, cyborgs, porn stars that look like blow-up dolls, constipation, Prince gangsters, and lots of redundant and nonsensical storytelling follow suit. Ben and Nate try and find the right reference point for this very strange animated movie, and aftewards also talk about recent movies like "Ben Hur," "Kubo and the Two Strings," and "War Dogs" to close out the summer.

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are taking a cue from the new "Pete's Dragon" and are looking at old Disney live-action movies worthy of a re-imagining for today's film market. The guys also discuss plenty more about "Suicide Squad" and just how far you can take a movie about talking food.

Available on iTunes.

Episode 150 includes:

-What is reverse Beetlejuice? You'll find out for your SATs.

-Even more "Suicide Squad" news, now with the fallout of the reception and a searing anonymous letter from a former WB employee (which we read in its entirety).

-"Sausage Party" is really a story about the atheist's plight.

-"Pete's Dragon" made both Ben and Nate cry and it's freakin' magical, you jerks.
