Dirty Sons of Pitches

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are looking forward to the newest "Star Wars" and hoping for the best, and so this week they're pitching "passing the torch" concepts where the old welcomes the new. The guys also chat over two more episodes of SyFy's "Z Nation" as they're gearing up for the final run of episodes.

Available on iTunes.

Episode 127 includes:

-The guys rehash the "Batman vs. Superman" trailer a.k.a. the entire stupid damn movie.

-The last podcast before the new "Star Wars." Will we ever be the same?

-"In the Heart of the Sea" is weirdly most interesting with its frame story of Herman Melville.

-Ben hesitantly says "Ridiculous 6" might be a portent of "positive" things to come from the Sandler-Netflix deal. This is all relative, though.

-Nate declares "Creed" to be the best Rocky sequel, easily.

-This Week's Pitch -- Passing the Torch!

-Ben pitches a two-hander with an outgoing and incoming president, old gods finding new replacements, and a Chosen One who has been set up.

-Nate pitches James Bond adapting to the new world of techno spying, and God looking for a replacement among the most pure and selfless and testing them.

-Bonus Discussion: 'Z Nation' Re-Watch (episodes 1x07-08)!

-The guys continue their discussion with season one of the SyFy zombie series as things get even more dark and serious (but still fun).

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are still recovering from Ben's illness so excuse his raspy dulcet tones once more. This week they're pitching their own Pixar movies in honor of the release of Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur," their second film release of 2015. The guys catch up on a bunch of movies, share their latest short film, say goodbye to the world’s best orange juice pitchman, Robert Loggia, and do their best to make out all the subtext of “Back to the Future” they don’t want you to know.

Available on iTunes.

Episode 126 includes:

-Check out their latest short film, "The Least Dangerous Game" enjoy, folks.

-Ben explains all the weird undercurrents of animosity between the McFly spouses in "Back to the Future."

-Oscar watch: "Brooklyn" is heartfelt, "Spotlight" is too tightly focused, "The Danish Girl" is tasteful to a fault, and "Room" is one of the best films of 2015.

-Ben doesn't get the appeal of the Rocky franchise and "Creed."

-Nate says "Mockingjay Part 2" is all climax and yet still feels anti-climactic.

-Ben says "The Good Dinosaur" is the weakest Pixar film without "Cars" in the title.

-This Week's Pitch -- Ultimate Pixar Movie!

-Nate pitches a Pixar movie that looks into the creative offices of Pixar itself.

-Ben pitches a Bigfoot fish-out-of-water tale, a land of different animation styles, and the secret world of rocks! ROCKS!

-Bonus Discussion: 'Z Nation' Rewatch (episodes 1x06)!

-The guys discuss a mid-season resting point with a momentous sixth episode of SyFy's zombie series.

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are back though Ben's voice is still playing catch-up from his sickness (we apologize for his smoky dulcet sounds). In light of the recently released "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" trailer, the guys are combining the high brow and the low brow in their pitches this week, and then talking about the SyFy Channel zombie show, "Z Nation." Come for the movie discussion, stay for the weird tangents, including one of our possible best concerning a certain refreshment from the 1990s.

Also available on iTunes.

Episode 125 includes:

-Could Mentos be the key legal loophole we've been ignoring all this time?

-Ben questions whether "The Wolfpack" constitutes child abuse.

-Ben raves about Netflix's new Marvel show, "Jessica Jones."

-Nate feels that "Spectre" is the worst of the Daniel Craig Bonds, and yes, he remembers "Quantum of Solace."

-This Week's Pitch -- High Art/Low Art combo!

-Nate pitches a Holocaust doc where the filmmakers have their doubts about whether their subject is actually a good person, and a legal thriller championing the wrong side.

-Ben pitches "A Farewell to Arms and Legs and Heads," a Treasure Island on the Island of Dr. Moreau, and a Moby Dick with Cthulu.

-Bonus Discussion: "Z Nation" Rewatch (episodes 1x04-5)

-The guys continue watching Ben's favorite show on the air as they proceed further into season one of zombie cross-country mayhem.

They then extend their next Rewatch segment into the show Ben has been championing for weeks, SyFy's "Z Nation." Along the way they also talk about White Castle's imminent bowl removal.

Available on iTunes.

Episode 124 includes:

-Police unions are unhappy with Quentin Tarantino and it's not just because of that whole ear torture thing.

-Nate finds "Straight Outta Compton" to be too tame and

-Ben finds the "Peanuts" movie to be the worst filmgoing experience of his life. Wow.

-Ben says "Crimson Peak" is an example of a subgenre of horror that deserves to stay dead.

-This Week's Pitch -- Adapt a Horror Film to Series!

-Nate pitches a "Rosemary's Baby" limited-run series that then transitions to "The Omen" and a modern-day "Freaks."

-Ben pitches a cross country series for "Near Dark," an outbreak drama version following "The Thing," and a case-of-the-week for "Cemetery Man."

-Bonus discussion: "Z Nation" Rewatch (episodes 1x01-03)

-Ben has convinced Nate to watch and discuss his newest favorite TV show. It's just about everything you'd want from "The Walking Dead."

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" were in a rush to record this week, mostly to explain and talk about a controversial decision by present MOFA leaders that left them confused and frustrated from the vantage point of writers. After last week's inspiration with "Mr. Holmes," the guys pitch final stories involving famous characters from movies and literature.

Also available on iTunes.

Episode 123 includes:

-Ben doesn't get the fuss over the David Foster Wallace movie "End of the Tour."

-This Week's Pitch -- Swan Songs for Famous characters!

-Nate pitches Poirot trying to use his years of crime-solving to cover up a murder he accidentally committed (Miss Marple?).

-Ben pitches a post-apocalyptic mutant clone Batman story that needs to be made immediately. Listen to this closely, DC.

The "Dirty Sons of Pitches" are joined by George this week because of George's adoration of the so-bad-it's-good series, "Left Behind." The gang pitches faith-based movies and get far too caught up in their conversational tangents to have a game this week. The guys also talk about the purposes of plugs, TV Catwomen actress orgies, the logistics of chasity belts, whether the Roger Corman "Fantastic Four" is the best version of the characters on screen, Jared Fogel's new slogans, the bad aging of CGI effects, the needless early 90s VR sene in "Disclosure," the eligibility of "The Day the Clown Cried" in ten years time, sighing in someone's face, the exact number of books George has read in his life which can be counted on two hands, what to do and what not to do with the Anti-christ, and Dolly Parton's singing voice.

Also available on iTunes.

Episode 118 includes:

-What if "Star Wars" sucks? Think about it, won't you?

-George talks about his thoughts on "Ant-Man," "Ted 2," "Spy," "Fantastic Four," and "Trainwreck."

-Nate and Ben are truly shocked to find "Little Boy" to be competent even after it implies God dropped the atom bombs.

-This Week's Pitch -- Faith-Based Movies!

-George explains his love of the "Left Behind" movies and books.

-Nate pitches an inspirational movie where a boy puts his faith in Cthulu.

-Ben pitches an atheist with Messiah syndrome, an inter-faith bowling team, and a priest and rabbi who fight gangs together.
